With the release of the new ITIL® 4 Foundation courses Axelos has today officially launched ITIL 4. This is the latest update of the world’s most widely used service management framework.

ITIL 4 has been designed to provide a practical and flexible basis to support organizations with their IT and digitally-enabled product and service delivery. It is a solid foundation of best practice, from which organizations can innovate and digitally transform. Moving from traditional process-led delivery, the update focusses on co-creating value collaboratively between the organization and stakeholders. It also looks at ITSM, development, operations, business relationships and governance in a holistic way, ensuring all functions across the organization are working towards common objectives.

Mark Basham, CEO at Axelos, says: “This is a great moment for Axelos and we want to thank everyone who played a role in this community-led project.

“We worked with 12 lead architects, 61 authors and reviewers, and hundreds of practitioners from the wider IT industry. In addition, our ITIL Development Group has more than 2,000 members from all over the world. This huge collaboration has now produced a framework that will support practitioners and organizations to meet the challenges that come with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Margo Leach, Chief Product Officer at Axelos, continues: “Bringing ITIL 4 to market was such an amazing journey and I’m proud of everyone who participated.

“There is a lot of excitement within the ITSM community and we know expectations around ITIL 4 are high. The feedback we have had so far has been extremely positive and we are convinced this launch will be a huge success.”

ITIL 4 Foundation courses can now be booked via Axelos’ training partners. The higher levels, including ITIL 4’s Managing Professional stream and transition module, will be available in the second half of 2019.

Courses and exams for ITIL 4 Foundation are now available and can be booked via any of Axelos’ accredited training partners.

The ITIL 4 Foundation guidance was released on 18 February and is available for purchase via Axelos’ publishing partner TSO.
