The session began with AXELOS' PPM Portfolio Manager Mike Acaster and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) Author Patrick Mayfield introducing MSP and discussing how the framework can help organizations improve their programme management practices and offer better services to their customers. Then Programme Manager Neil Aldridge and Trainer John Edmonds shared their examples of how MSP can be used to make a difference to the way programmes are delivered.
Neil explained how a major global food and drinks company used MSP to rescue a programme that was built around their existing project management methodology. He looked at how the MSP Principles highlighted significant areas of focus and challenge for the programme team, and describe some of the key messages that emerged.
John then spoke about how a UK university implemented a programme management approach to their rapidly changing environment and will consider three main threads of their MSP implementation – engagement; building capability; identifying and equipping three major programme roles.
The session was followed by 15 minutes of Q&A with the speakers.
