I found the Portfolio Definition Cycle of particular help as we, as an organisation, are only now starting to implement Portfolio management across a diverse group of previously separate operating companies. This guide provided me with a framework to better understand the steps that I needed to take and to also explain to others what Portfolio Management was about and what we should be working towards. This is the first year we've attempted to prioritise and balance our portfolio and this was done based on the guidance in this guide.

Both myself and my organisation have a long way to go before we will have implemented Portfolio Management effectively however we are now at least making strides forwards.

The guide provided me with the knowledge and confidence to present to others on the leadership team, other teams and my own project managers about what Portfolio Management is and my vision for the future of our department.
